Give to MOKA
Holiday/Year End 2011 Giving Opportunity - Your gift will help individuals achieve their goals and dreams.
Living your life every day being accepted for the individual you are, and doing what you want to do appears simple. Living with a developmental disability isn’t. At MOKA we take individual desires and create opportunities for acceptance and independence. We do it with a team approach and you’re invited to join us. The needs are greater than our resources. We make it simple for you to give an individual a higher quality of life with your gift. Whether you help buy a pair of shoes, purchase tickets for the residents of a home to go to a hockey game and out for dinner, or help fund a scholarship to help someone get a job. It makes a difference. Select the area you’re passionate about, make your gift and together we’ll empower the individual in everyone. It’s a great feeling. At MOKA we celebrate achievement every day. No gift is too small, no behavior too large, it only matters, that you make an effort. Thank you.

Support an Individual
Help purchase the items an individual needs but can’t afford, and Medicaid, Medicare or their insurance doesn’t cover. These needs can’t be met in any other way. It might be a new pair of shoes, a winter coat, or a new pillow.
Support a Home
We strive to provide residences individuals call home and want to come home to. Just like your home we don’t have everything we need and like your family we can’t afford everything we want to do. You can provide funds for the residents to go on an outing with staff. We may purchase tickets for a sporting event, cultural activity or good old fashioned fun like a boat trip. Sometimes we need new items like a flat screen TV, or talking photo albums to communicate with our nonverbal residents, a full set of appropriate board games, or a special pathway ramp with handrails for individuals who use a wheelchair to access certain location s in the community. If you’ll provide resources for a particular home the individuals and staff will be able to go out in the community and do things together, or do certain functions at home better.
Support a Social Coaching Scholarship for Autism or Asperger’s
Young adults ages 16-25 with Autism or Aspergers Syndrome often fall through the cracks and aren’t eligible for services. MOKA’s Social Coaching Program helps them identify their social challenges, teaches them useful skills and allows them to practice during excursions in the community. Individuals pursue jobs, post-secondary education, and become involved in their community. Classes of 6 individuals meet weekly for 15 weeks. We offer 15 classes throughout the year at fee of $500. Typically 1 individual per class is low income, and Medicaid or their insurance will not pay for it.
A gift of $42.00 00 a month or a onetime gift of $500 will help a young adult help themselves acquire confidence, achieve their dreams and live more independently.
Greatest Need
Your unrestricted gift will support our greatest and most compelling needs. A gift to the greatest need demonstrates your commitment to MOKA, our mission, and your passion for helping the developmentally disabled when in need. We’ll direct your gift to one of our core services or programs. Thanks for trusting us to put your hard earned dollars to work as hard as you do.
