Endeavor
Who
Adults with disabilities who are interested in self and community discovery and working toward economic self sufficiency
What
Skill building is designed to equip people with the skills that allow them to be contributing members of their communities by teaching employability skills and guiding individuals to self discovery.
When
Monday – Friday from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Where
Using the community as our classroom is the best way to teach and learn about how to be a part of the greater world around us. The majority of our time is spent in neighborhoods, parks, restaurants, employer sites, etc. We do this through the use of company vans, including pick up and drop off of participants. We also provide classroom instruction to support community learning.
Why Endeavor/e2
There is an evident need for individuals with disabilities to grow and learn new skills and to increase self sufficiency. Experiences in the community, such as volunteering, enable them to have meaningful integration. An essential part of the both curriculums is to focus on helping a person discover their own abilities, self-worth, work goals and life plans.
How
Services support each individual’s person centered plan, with specific goals for increased skills and accomplishment in the areas of community inclusion, independence, and productivity. Our focus is helping individuals to learn the skills necessary to become gainfully employed and to contribute back to the community. We do this through volunteer work, teaching job related skills, self discovery, career exploration, job shadowing, and instructional time.
Outcomes
The most important outcome is that the people we serve are satisfied with the services that we are providing them. Improved self esteem, improved communication skills, greater community awareness, progressing toward or maintaining individual goals, and increased community involvement are some of the byproducts of helping individuals achieve economic self sufficiency. |
