As we planned our upcoming fundraiser, we put significant thought into choosing the perfect name. We wanted it to reflect the core of our mission while highlighting the innovative spirit of our Smart Home Pilot. After much discussion, we landed on Compassion in Action.
Here’s what the name means to us:
At its core, compassion is about connection. It’s the ability to see a person’s needs and respond with kindness, respect, and empathy. In our work at MOKA, it means listening, learning, and ensuring that every person we support has the opportunity to lead a meaningful life.
Compassion is the foundation of our services. It’s what drives us toward innovative projects like The Smart Home Pilot, where technology empowers the people we serve to live more independently while still feeling our full support. It’s laced in every thoughtful choice we make at MOKA.
Compassion is powerful, but action is what turns it into lasting change. Action involves rolling up our sleeves and doing what needs to be done to better the lives of those in MOKA’s care. It’s about taking big steps in the direction of progress and bypassing obstacles that stand in our way.
With the Smart Home Pilot, action takes many shapes. The innovative technology we’re introducing, the new skills people are learning, and the way we’re breaking down barriers to independence. Every step forward represents a tangible commitment to turning compassion into something real, something impactful, something life changing.
Together, compassion and action are a powerful combination. This fundraiser is an opportunity to come together and be part of a movement toward greater independence and innovation in care.
