Goals. Made Possible.
Services support each individual’s plan of service, with specific goals for increased skill development and accomplishment in the areas of community inclusion, socialization, and independence. Discovery is a core aspect of life skills community living supports program. This includes a common focus on discovery of self and of personal growth. This discovery means that each person is expected to have a greater awareness of the community and its many resources. This knowledge of community is not limited to what the person has to receive from the community; it also provides a greater awareness of their unique place in our community and finding an ability to give something back.
LSCLS will increase each participant’s awareness of themselves and the community through volunteer work, instruction, curriculum-based exercises, and inclusive activities. Part of our curriculum focuses on being professional and successful in community integrated settings. Our Activities-On-the-Go curriculum is designed to do just that…activities on the go. We believe every moment is a teaching moment and an opportunity to learn. Engaging the individuals we serve in every teaching opportunity is our way of making every moment a meaningful moment. This curriculum supports this concept.
MOKA will provide services and support to each individual served from a strength-based and person-centered approach. This is accomplished through a combination of:
-
Solid assessment of individual strengths and needs
-
Attracting and retaining competent and caring staff who see the individual and visualize strategies for helping them achieve their individual goals
-
Continually striving to maintain agency and staff competency in program strategies known to be effective
We make use of every conceivable community resource as our workshop. Individuals served, to the greatest extent possible, will experience and be present in the community learning and growing toward their personal goals. All services will be provided in natural, community settings. Small, scattered site conference rooms, offices, or classrooms, which we refer to as launching pads, will serve as a base from which to access these community settings. These locations will also be used on occasion to provide training focused on specific skill attainment.
Services are available Monday-Friday from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
